Timely Donation For Nadi School
The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation last Thursday assisted the Nawaka District Primary School in Nadi in its quest to provide the best education to children in rural areas.
Minister Rosy Akbar visited the school last Thursday and presented the school management with a $7000 cheque to help the school equip and renovate its computer lab.
The assistance was requested during Ms Akbar’s first visit to the school last month.
Headteacher Waisake Eceece said the assistance would help children in their computer studies.
“This would benefit 404 children who will be undertaking computer classes. It would boost their education at high school and in their careers,” Mr Eceece said.
“The school management is impressed with the swift response by the Minister. During the Minister’s last visit, we requested her assistance to upgrade the computer lab.
“The school has also received positive feedbacks from parents and teachers on the free Life Milk and Weet-Bix programme for Year One students. The programme enhances nutritional requirements and instills healthy habits among students.”
Ms Akbar said: “Education is the basis to foster sustainable development and investing in our children is about investing in Fiji’s future.
“The Ministry provides support to over 5000 children through its social protection programmes to ensure that these children have equal opportunities to education. We will continue to reach out and support initiatives that promote enhanced learning and education in Fiji.”
Earlier this year Ms Akbar provided similar assistance worth $6000 to the Nausori Special School.
