Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel was overwhelmingly re-elected during the 77th annual congress at the Regional Academy in Ba last night.

Patel was grateful to the delegates for their continued support.

“I thank the districts who have supported and even those who did not support me as I will serve as their president,” he said.

“My team will stick to the promise we made in 2011 and we need their support for the next four years.”

Patel received 36 votes while former Lautoka FA president Shalendra Prasad got 17 votes.

Fiji FA also made a profit as presented in the annual report.

“Our finances are very clear and it is much better as we have anticipated a deficit last year.

“But this year we made an increase of $229,000 to almost $639,000 in return profit.

“This will be used for the Vodafone Fijian Under-20 and U23 national teams.”

Tarunesh Reddy, meanwhile, retained his spot as vice-president  (western) winning 42-9 over former Lautoka FA VP Abdul Rafiq.

Yogeshwar Singh won 40-12 beating Shalendra Roy for the vice-president (southern) while Edwin Chand was unopposed a vice-president (northern).

Meanwhile, Patel said he would name the new national coaching director today to replace Carlos Buzzetti.

And it is likely to be former Vodafone Under- 20 coach Frank Farina.

“We will announce the new coach tomorrow. He would only work if I’m re-elected,” Patel said.
