Westpac customers will now have the opportunity to enjoy banking service through the comfort of their mobile phones.

This was made possible through the launching of the mobile banking platform yesterday.

This is the first advanced mobile banking platform introduced to Fiji, and it is supported by both mobile networks, Vodafone and Digicel.

General manager Adrian Hughes said: “Our new mobile banking service is the smart and convenient way to manage your money when you’re out and about

“It’s so exciting to be delivering banking to our customers’ fingertips with a platform that’s easy to use, very secure and immediate.”

The service is compatible with all mobile devices regardless of make or model.

Operates

Westpac customers with a mobile phone simply need to ‘opt in’ by dialling *149# to get started.

There are no forms to fill in or lengthy processes to follow – people can be banking on their phone within minutes.

Individuals who do not currently bank with Westpac but would like to access convenient mobile banking can open an account at a Westpac branch and get started straight away.

Charges

The service is available for 24 hours, 7 days a week with no charges through 31 January 2016.

After that, customers will be charged a Mobile Network Operator ‘access charge’ of 20 cents for each successful login/session.

Standard electronic fees will continue to apply as normal, based on the product type. Customers will be advised well in advance of any fees that will be charged.

Mr Hughes said: “Mobile phones have changed the face of banking around the world by quite literally placing banking into the palm of customers’ hands – allowing them to bank securely anytime and anywhere.

“We acknowledge this trend and recognise the importance of leading and helping customers bank conveniently, at any time and place that suits them.”

What can customers do:

  • Register for mobile banking anywhere, anytime (Note: the customer must have registered their mobile number with Westpac – branches can update customer details if incorrect)
  • Get their current and available account balances on any linked, personal transaction account and view their recent transaction history
  • Top up their own mobile or another mobile airtime pre-paid account, directly from their bank account
  • Transfer funds between their linked personal accounts OR make payments to other Westpac accounts
  • Make payments to other non-Westpac bank accounts (ANZ, BSP) or transfer funds into their Vodafone M-Paisa accounts.
  • Get help, see a list of fees or change their mobile banking PIN, from their mobile phone, anywhere, anytime.
