Normal Operations In Labasa Town Tomorrow

In the midst of the Fiji Day celebration, the businesses in Labasa town is set to operate as normal tomorrow.

Special Administrator for Labasa and Savusavu Town Council Vijay Chand confirmed that Ministry of Local Government has given the regulatory authority to business proprietors to decide whether they wish to open or close their shops tomorrow.

Mr Chand said: “As for the council both for Labasa and Savusavu, we will open the market according to our normal schedule.”

Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Satish Kumar said he had discussion with the Labasa Town Council chief executive Jitendra Prasad and was told that business operators were welcomed to open their business.

“There is no such restriction on business operators,” Mr Kumar said.

Meanwhile, Mr Satish has thanked the minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment Praveen Bala for the opportunity to operate their businesses.

Mr Satish said: “At the same time civil servants and other workers who only get time to do shopping on Saturday will have the same privilege.

“While it is a public holiday I would like to advise people to take extra precaution.”

Fiji Bus Operators Association President Parmod Chand said as for Vanua Levu, the bus operation would be normal.

Mr Chand said: “The three bus companies Dalip Chand and Son, Parmod Enterprises Limited and Northern Buses would operate as usual.”

The five main supermarkets in Labasa will be opened.

They are Shop N Save, New World, RB Patel, Morris Hedstorm and Nambawan Supermarket formerly known as CountDown Supermarket.
