Minister Tuitubou commends group for their commitment to use Government funding well.

It was a good and satisfying Fiji Day celebration for the Ba HART community in Namosau yesterday.

This was after the Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou, handed over a second computer set worth $1814.97 to the Ba HART Youth group.

The youth group first received an assistance of a computer set in November 2014 from the ministry worth over $2000 after the group had requested assistance to start off their internet shop business.

Ba HART Youth president Krishneel Naikar said the internet shop had been in operation since it started in November 2014 and the youth group has managed to generate a saving of $300.

“The computer is used during the day for administrative work and opens for internet services to our youths including our single mothers from 7pm to 11pm,” he said.

“Now that we have received a second computer it will be used fulltime for internet services while the old one continues to operate during the night.”

He said the shop really helped the youths in terms of doing their assignments and research and avoids the risks of parents allowing their children to go to town, especially during late hours.

“The internet shop will also be open for service to neighboring communities Tavegavega, Namosau and Yalalevu.

“This is a really big boost for our business and it would help expand it.”

He said through the internet shop business the group was also able to purchase a grasscutter worth $849 with the help of the chief executive officer of Fiji HART.

Meanwhile, Mr Tuitubou said he was proud of the efforts shown by the youth group and it should inspire other youths and youth groups.

“You have shown great commitment,” Mr Tuitubou said.

He said he was happy to see that despite the small contribution Government had made, the youth group had utilised it well.
