Best Fiji Day Parade: Natuva
This year’s Fiji Day and farewell parade for President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has been rated as one of the best by the Minister for Defence, Immigration and National Security, Timoci Natuva.
Mr Natuva, who was among Cabinet ministers that attended yesterday’s Fiji Day parade, said the inclusion of a female detachment was an icing on the cake.
“This was one of the best parades that I’ve seen compared to the other parades. The preparations were done in a way so that we do the best and should be the best parade that we have for the President’s farewell,” Mr Natuva said.
“It was also done in a way that was very meticulous. Also for the first time there was a female detachment as we promote women in the RFMF. I think everyone liked it.”
He said every parade always showcased discipline within a force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces displayed just that.
Mr Natuva said the welcoming parade for the new President was still under negotiation.
Members of the diplomatic corps and senior officials of various ministries attended the event. However, it was notable that none of the Opposition members attended the parade.
