As civil servants around the country led the Fiji Day celebrations yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it would continue to promote the country internationally.

This was revealed by the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Esala Nayasi during Fiji Day celebrations in Suva yesterday.

He led staff members from the Ministry who marched through Laucala Bay in Suva to Bidesi Ground. Mr Nayasi said the celebration was not only a huge milestone for the country, but the ministry as well.

“We have achieved a lot as a country even though we are small, but we have impacts in terms of our footprints and engagements with the international community,” Mr Nayasi said.

“We are pursuing the policies of Government which will ensure that in the years to come, even our foreign relations would be further enhanced. I think dating back to 1970, there has been a lot of progress that has taken place in Fiji.”

He also noted Fiji’s relations with international communities.

“For that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is proud to be an agency that carries the flag for Government and for Fiji in the international arena among other countries.”

The ministry won the best uniform and best exhibition awards yesterday.
