Prominent sports administrator Paul Yee was laid to rest at the Chinese Cemetery in Suva on Thursday.

Yee, who was heavily involved in athletics since the 1970s was elected vice-president of the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee vice-president in 2013 and served a 2-term until March 2015.

His involvement with Team Fiji began in 1989 when he was the athletics section manager to the South Pacific Games in Tonga and continued until 2014.

FASANOC and Shop N Save Athletics Fiji president Joe Rodan (Senior) said Yee was a good servant.

“He was passionate about sports and people and he like to help others as he made his business to understand everyone.,” Rodan said.

“I think the lesson that we should learn from Paul is that people are very important in life and he cares about everyone and he tries to help anyone in any way he can. He has contributed a lot to sports and Fiji.

Oceania National Olympic Committee president Dr Robin Mitchell has known Paul since 1964 and describes him as a willing volunteer.

Yee is survived by his wife Susie and their four children and grandchildren.
