The idea of discrimination should not be entertained in our societies because we are all Fijians.

Komai Nausori, Ratu Lepani Tagicakibau, relayed this message as part of officiating the Fiji Day celebrations at the recent Nausori Municipal Market yesterday.

“As you can all see in this market (today) that people from all walks of life and backgrounds have come together to celebrate Fiji’s independence and it is so touching to see them working together.

“We should all work together towards a brighter and better future for all Fijians through love and respect.”

“As Fijians, we should put all our differences behind us, hold hands, work together, works towards taking our beloved nation to new heights which will uplift our lives and the nation as whole,” he said.

Komai Nausori said the celebrations also marked a special occasion for market vendors as it was the first time they are celebrating Fiji Day at the new Nausori Municipal Market which was organised by Nausori Town Council.

“Just recently market vendors were celebrating the opening of the new market and today (yesterday) they are celebrating Fiji Day in the market, we want to thank the Government for their efforts to improve business in Nausori.”

“Now the market vendors have their own space to sell their produce whereas the old market was always overcrowded and there was not much space.”

“We brought Fiji Day Celebrations in the new market because most of these vendors can’t find time to celebrate such occasions because of their busy schedule.”
