The case of two former public officers charged with bribery-related offences has been adjourned to December to fix a hearing date.
Avinesh Lal and Pritam Singh are charged by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption for allegedly soliciting money from a businessman as an inducement.
They appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday morning.
It is alleged the duo, while being employed as auditor and a tax officer at Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority, solicited $15,000 from a businessman as an inducement in March this year.
On the same day, Singh is alleged to have obtained another $7500 from the same complainant.
Lal, who was the auditor, has been charged with one count of bribery.
And Singh, the tax officer, faces two counts of bribery.
The two had earlier pleaded not guilty to the above charges.
The matter has been adjourned to December 1 to fix a hearing date. Bail has been extended for both accused persons.
