A team of Police officers, with the assistance of the Dravuwalu villagers in Kadavu, yesterday apprehended escapee, Sakiusa Basa Viaviaturaga, on the island.

Police, in a statement, said Viaviaturaga was arrested in Kadavu and also had in his possession more than 600 plants believed to be marijuana.

Police thanked the people of Dravuwalu for their assistance and co-operation, which led to the successful apprehension of Viaviaturaga.

Chief Operations Officer, ACP Rusiate Tudravu said this was an example of Police community partnership that they continue to advocate.

“It is encouraging seeing that people are being proactive and curbing illegal activities from within their communities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police also confirmed that Radhika Ronita Devi, 16, of Nakasi who was reported missing, has been found. She presented herself at the Nakasi Police Station. The search for Salanieta Marama, 20, continues.
