St Giles Gets TV, Kitchen Gear Upgrade
St Giles Hospital staff and patients can now prepare a variety of sweets and food for Diwali this year.
This was after Leadership Fiji 2014 members and St Giles Hospital Board of Visitors donated kitchen equipments, television and cash to them.
The Leadership Fiji 2014 members donated kitchen utensils worth $1000 and the Saint Giles Hospital Board of Visitors donated a television worth $1500, gas stove worth $700 and $300 cash.
St Giles Hospital senior matron Luse Sivo expressed her gratitude to the hospital board members and Leadership Fiji 2014 members for their kind donation.
“Mental health is everybody’s health, we have people who cannot stand stress” she said.
“We are so thankful that Leadership Fiji has the passion to donate things to us in preparation for Diwali.”
She said these utensils will be useful in their occupational therapy program.
St Giles Hospital Board of Visitors chairperson Elizabeth Dass said: “This project started last year when Leadership Fiji 2014 wanted to know what we needed.”
She said they gave them a list of kitchen utensils which they were in need of.
Leadership Fiji 2014 member Litea Lagilagi said: “We are graduates of Leadership Fiji program and part of our participation we are doing two years of community based projects which will end next year in March.”
The Leadership Fiji 2014 is doing projects in two streams; education and health.
“We got in touch with the Board of Visitors of the hospital and asked them what they needed, so we fundraised and sought sponsorship to help the hospital,” she said.
