The people of Fiji welcome the allocation of $750,000 for groundwater development, says Government MP Rupeni Nadalo.
He told Parliament yesterday that the Western Division faced water problems.
“In Nadroga-Navosa, almost all the villages, schools and settlements’ water catchments had dried up.
Mr Nadalo said a more realistic strategy was being developed for the long-term.
“There have been initiatives made to supply water to many of these areas, but for the long-term, a more realistic strategy is being developed.
“Currently, the salad bowl villages and settlements from the East bank of the Sigatoka River and all villages on the upper reaches of the Sigatoka Valley are resorting to the main Sigatoka River for their daily needs,” he said.
