Tavua Town Council chief executive officer Temalesi Henfiro said the public could expect a spectacular New Year’s street party on December 31.

“It’s the first time for Tavua and people are really looking forward to it,” she said.

“We will have a stage, live band and lots of decorations and lights for the people to enjoy.”

Ms Henfiro said the event was organised by the town council to herald in the year 2016 in style.

Meanwhile, Lautoka Town Council chief executive officer Jone Nakauvadra has confirmed that Lautoka would also be having a street party.

“Yes, we will definitely have it and at the moment we are still talking with our sponsors and the Fiji Roads Authority,” he said.

“The sponsors for the event will be Go Advertising and we hope to have a good event this year. We will have to discuss the programme with our sponsors to confirm the venue.”

Ba Town Council CEO Dip Narayan said the business community in Ba would be working with the council to organise an enjoyable street party.

“We hope to get the programme going by 6pm, but as we all know the crowd usually start coming at night,” he said.

“Every year it gets bigger and we hope to have more people coming this year as this year it will be held in Tubuna Park which is near the council premises.”

However, Rakiraki Town Council CEO Rakesh Chandra said there would be no street party for Rakiraki this year.
