The national advisor for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), Dr Isimeli Tukana, has encouraged private companies to promote health awareness with Ministry of Health.

Dr Tukana said this during the launch of Courts and Sports World Health and Fitness Month in Suva yesterday.

Their health and fitness month started yesterday and will end on February 29.

“I was so privileged when I heard about this great initiative by Courts and Sports World in trying to promote health,” Dr Tukana said.

He said he was encouraging all other private organisations to help them move health forward.

“We don’t have to talk about NCDs; we need to talk about solutions,” he said.

Dr Tukana has encouraged people to take part in the Courts and Sports World, Health and Fitness Month.

Courts chief operating officer Hamendra Prasad said: “We are promoting the fight against NCDs and creating awareness on Body Mass Index (BMI).”

Mr Prasad said they had partnered with Ministry for Health and Medical Services and created a synergy to ensure everyone was living, eating and staying healthy.

“We are committed to educating the people of Fiji to start moving towards a healthier and happier future.”

Meanwhile, Courts and Sports World has organised two events as part of its community engagement.

The first event is a regional fun run in Suva on February 13 and February 20 in Nadi.

Their second event is the Body Mass Index awareness.

Customers can come to any of Courts and Sports World store to measure their height, weight and to get their BMI. They will also be displaying the BMI charts, measuring height and weight scale.
