Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has called on all non-government organisations (NGOs) and political parties who are collecting funds for Tropical Cyclone Winston victims to liaise with the Divisional Commissioners on the use of their funds.

Speaking to the Fiji Sun at Dawasamu Secondary School in Dawasamu on Wednesday, he said he had no problems with those involved, however his concern was the relief funds reaching the right people.

On Wednesday, Josefa Dulaki from the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) was at Silana Village, Dawasamu.

Mr Bainimarama said while he commended SODELPA’s presence in devastated areas, he hoped they really felt for the people but not for their political agenda.

Ttropical Cyclone Winston he said had affected the people’s lives and they were still in a shock because of the loss of their properties especially their houses.

“No one should take advantage of the current situation to his or her advantage,” he said.

He said all NGOs and political parties should join Government in its effort to rebuild the nation.

All difference should be put aside and helping all those in devastated areas should be prioritised.
