Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum yesterday visited three more areas in Ba – specifically Nukuloa, Togo Village, Toge Settlement and Balevuto Settlement – extending his West tour for a few more days.

Among the affected families he visited, one residing in Toge Settlement, greatly commended the Government in reaching out to the interior.

The family of Rohit Ram showed their appreciation for the Government’s help with Mr Ram, 48, saying that it was the first time any minister had paid them a visit after a natural disaster. He said he was happy the Government was concerned about the needs of those who resided in rural areas.

“The commitment from the Minister is a sign that the Government as a whole, believes in equal opportunities for all Fijians,” Mr Ram said.

“This is a sign of humbleness, a quality every leader must possess.”

Mr Ram mentioned that he had ten family members, and life was difficult after Cyclone Winston caused major damage to their house.

“Cyclone Winston blew the entire roof of our house leaving our family homeless.

“The groceries we had in the kitchen were all damaged, and till now we had not received any assistance from anyone.

“I would humbly request the ministers from this Government continue with the good work, in making necessities like food and water available.”

The Attorney-General continues his West tour today.
