The Nadi Blazers women’s team have promised to defy all odds during the 29th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s competition at Prince Charles Park in Nadi today.

Club president Lailanie Burnes said they had about 36 players in total since establishing the club three years ago.

“Our team has been in camp for a long time and we have increased our tempo as we come closer this week,” she said.

The side will be fielding two teams, Nadi Blazers Titans and Spartans, in the two-day event giving their girls the much-needed exposure.

The Titans is the top seed in Pool Two alongside Senikau Ruggers, Striders II and Mystic Knights while the Spartans are in Pool One alongside top seed Striders, Bull Dogs and Primrose Nawaka.

“The two teams are good as each other and we are ready to take the field. The competition should be exciting as well,” Burnes said.

Burnes said the competition level should be up as the Rio Olympics was nearing.

Meanwhile she thanked their sponsors Jack’s of Fiji, Radisson Blu, Selva’s Taxis and Tours, Nadi Rugby Union, Martintar Laundry, New Nadi Farmers Club, Reef Safari and Barefoot group.
