Cakaudrove beauty, Caroline Gatu, is vying for the chance to be Fiji’s next representative to the 66th Miss World contest later this year.

The 18-year-old University of the South Pacific, Lautoka Campus student is one of the 10 finalists competing for Fiji’s most coveted beauty title.

“I speak the Buca Bay dialect fluently as I was born and raised in the village. I am proud to represent my province on the Miss World stage and hope to bring the title back home,” she said.

The former Labasa College student enjoys watching movies, listening to music, playing netball and volleyball. She is also interested in history and facts about the past.

“I plan to be a catering manager upon completion of my studies and I am also hoping to gain as much exposure during the Miss World contest,” she said.

The Lautoka-based beauty has teamed up with designer Ilai Jikoiono to create her gown for the private judging on May 5.

Reigning Miss World Fiji Brittany Hazelman also hails from the province of Cakaudrove.

Miss World Fiji 2016 will be crowned on May 7 at The Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva and will represent Fiji at the 66th Miss World contest later in the year.

Tickets for the main event cost $150 and are available at The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, 69 Gladstone Road in Suva.

The FBC is managing and producing Miss World Fiji with The GPH as the official host partner, Fiji Airways the official airline partner and the Fiji Sun the official print media partner.
