For those who love to travel the difficult terrains, you might want to try the Foton Tunland double cab, vehicle which is affordable and quality.

Foton Tunland is available in Fiji from Foton CarCity showroom in 88 Jerusalem Road, Nabua.

Fifty years ago we all looked down our noses at new vehicles sourced from Japan.

In the 1980s onwards it was the turn of the Koreans – and to lesser degree minor European manufacturers – who arrived into our established market with “cheap and cheerful” options for budget-conscious buyers. Look at them now.

Since then models from these brands have grown to become established players worldwide.

And now is the turn for the modern-day newcomers, especially from India and China who are offering feature rich and as good as the Japanese and Korean vehicles but at much affordable prices.

Foton Tunland double cab powered by the world renowned Cummins diesel engine is one of the best examples of a well-equipped, powerful, modern design and affordable vehicles in the market today, now available in Fiji.

Foton Tunland Double Cab competes favourably with its big-name competition, not least of all on price.

And considering the brand is less than 20 years old (Foton was founded in Beijing in 1996), the Daimler/Cummins held company has achieved so much in a relatively short time.

As stated in a recent Australian Motoring review, the Tunland’s build quality stacks up well against Thai-built rivals from Ford, Holden, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota and others.

The welds of the ladder-frame are neat and far better than the other new comers while its cabin quality matches that of the top-selling Toyota Hilux and Nissan Navara.

Foton Tunland’s driver ergonomics are likewise well thought-out, with primary and secondary controls falling to reach easily.

The weighting of the steering and pedals is appropriate, while the gearshift is mechanical, yet very accurate.

The seats are adjustable through the usual ranges and the steering column offers adjustment for a clear view of the concise dual-dial analogue instrument panel.

Foton’s HVAC system was stated just as admirable, with super-cold air-conditioning making short work of a hot cabin.

Engine and Output

The 2.8-litre Cummins ISF four-cylinder engine is managed by a Bosch fuel management system

And like most modern rivals features a high-pressure common-rail and direct-injected delivery system.

Outputs are rated at 120kW at 3600rpm and 360Nm from 1800-3000rpm.

As for safety, Foton Tunland features dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and three-point adjustable seat belts, hands free Bluetooth along with heaps of comfort including leather seats, CD player with USB port, and more, all at very affordable prices.

All new Foton vehicles are backed by a 3year/100,000km warranty in Fiji.
