Lelean Memorial School has pulled out of today’s Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby League quarterfinals at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

This was confirmed yesterday by the Southern Zone president Aisake Tuapati.

“We did not receive any correspondence from them or anything on paper but the school principal called us last week saying they will not participate in the quarterfinals,” he said.

“The reason is believed to be an internal matter in the school.”

Valevou for AOGHS

Former Queen Victoria School Under-18 fullback Savenaca Valevou is ready to lead his adopted school Assemblies of God High School in today’s Under-19 quarterfinals. The 26 participating schools will battle out to secure a semifinal spot. The Soso native from Naceva, Kadavu was a Year 13 student of Queen Victoria School and joined AOGHS following the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Valevou said he is ready to lead his team.

“We have prepared well and we are looking forward for Saturday. For me personally I’m ready to lead my new school against defending champions Ba Provincial. All the players are prepared and are physically, mentally and spiritually fit for this Saturday,” he said.

FSSRL executive Laisiasa Corerega anticipated a competitive competition.

“It will be an exciting day for all the participating schools. We have been affected by cyclone Winston and also the recent flood but we are thankful to all schools for coming forward and especially to the Fiji National Rugby League for their support,” Corerega said.
