Companies, Groups Continue Giving

The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama received a number of donations towards the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.

Mr Bainimarama thanked Fulton Hogan Hiways for its $150,000 to help with the ongoing Tropical Cyclone Winston aftermath rebuilding.

Fulton Hogan board director John Boocock and general manager, Bill Caradus, presented the cheque.

“We have experienced firsthand the devastation and the impact it has had on people’s lives.” said Mr Caradus.

“We are glad to provide these funds to help the relief effort,” said Mr Caradus

Fulton Hogan’s workers in Australia and New Zealand also donated $28,000 through the Fiji Red Cross. They took salary deductions to raise the money.

Additionally, the Prime Minister also received $82,500 from Insurance Council including Life Insurance Corporation of India, The New India Assurance, Sun Insurance and BSP Life.

Insurance Council chairman, Mr Malakai Naiyaga handed over the cheque to PM Bainimarama.

Also offering its support was China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group Fiji that gave $30,000.

The Fiji Amateur Basketball Federation also donated $10,300 to the fund.

Acknowledging the donations, Mr Bainimarama said the assistance would go a long way towards the recovery efforts of TC Winston.
