The 2015 Fiji Sports Award Young Female Athlete of the Year, Eileen Cikamatana will be one of Fiji’s greatest athletes according to Oceania Weightlifting Federation General Secretary Paul Coffa.

“She will be Fiji’s greatest athlete in the next four years, just remember what I say to you, I have never seen anyone as talented as this young girl and I have never seen anyone as motivated as this girl,” veteran world class weightlifting coach Coffa said.

“We don’t know where or how she does it, whether it is the Fijian food but I’m not sure what is it but she is something special.”

The 16-year-old won gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa and won the Youth Athlete of the Pacific Games/Oceania Championships award in Port Moresby, PNG.

She has also been awarded a scholarship by the Oceania Weightlifting Institute to train in New Caledonia and is focused on qualifying for the Rio Olympics.

Coffa who has raised world class weightlifting champions as Australian coach as well as Nauru and Samoan champions said in his 50 years of being involved with the sport, he had never seen anyone as talented as Cikamatana.

“This young girl is sensational,” Coffa said.

“I can tell you I have coached 36 gold medals in the Commonwealth Games, coached gold and silver medals in the World Champions and at the Olympics and in my 50 years of involvement with the sport, I have never seen anyone as good as Eileen (Cikamatana),” Coffa said.

Cikamatana will be pushing experienced national lifter Apolonia Vaivai against international competitors in the 69kilos category at the Oceania Weightlifting Championships on May 24-28 at the Vodafone Arena, Suva.
