ANZAC Day At Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort

ANZAC Day At Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort
April 21

Around 300 guests are expected to be part of the ANZAC day celebration at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort at dawn on Monday.

ANZAC Day is celebrated on April 25 and is a day of significance where all Australians and New Zealanders remember their soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

It was originally to honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during World War I.

Resort general manager Peter Hopgood said: “The big difference is that more and more people are attending our service.

“We expect over 300 people to be in attendance at this years’ service.”

He said the format for their ANZAC service would be along the lines as the previous years.

“It is a day where we give gratitude to our past generations; who have made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that we live a life of freedom and peace,” Mr Hopgood said.

“On ANZAC Day we salute not only the spirit of the ANZACS but, in paying tribute to them, we take the opportunity to dedicate ourselves, to striving for our own countries, as they did, and upholding their finest qualities of courage, commitment, endurance and mateship.”

“We remember those who continue to suffer through their physical or mental scars, including those next of kin whose grief and sense of loss can never be eased,” Mr Hopgood said.
