A total of 323 students graduated from the University of Fiji, Lautoka branch yesterday.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony the Vice Chancellor, Professor Prem Misir congratulated the graduates wishing them the very best for future.

“With feelings of ecstasy, I warmly extend congratulations to you,” Professor Misir said.

“To receive an award of a certificate, a diploma, or a degree from the University of Fiji demonstrates your unwavering diligence and resilience during your academic sojourn here.

“Today is a historic day for you, a day for celebration, today is your day! Congratulations.”

Additionally, the Chancellor of University of Fiji and former President of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau also thanked the graduates for being resilient especially after Cyclone Winston.

“The recent cyclone has not dampened our spirits to quickly restore, to regroup and to rebuild our lives and our homes which exemplifies the level of resilience by our people to move our country forward,” Ratu Epeli said.

“I thank you all present today for standing together and finding means and ways or rebuilding of what is left behind after the cyclone.”

A total of 167 females and 156 males graduated from the University with 51.7 per cent being female and 48.3 per cent being male.
