Fiji Car Club To Reschedule Racing Calendar

Fiji Car Club To Reschedule Racing Calendar
April 23
14:01 2016

Bula my fellow car enthusiasts! We are pleased to announce that we are planning to have the race early next month now and by which time the weather will hopefully be on our side.

We had to postpone our drags which was to be held on March 27 because of the bad weather as racing cannot take place on the tracks when it is wet. The weather has been unfortunately very unpredictable this year.

First the country was hit by Tropical Cyclone Winston followed by the floods and then Tropical Cyclone Zena.

Thus, we will have to reschedule our racing calendar as well. We will inform our readers of the new racing calendar in the coming months so they are able to better prepare.

Membership drive

We have over 70 members so far. It’s encouraging since we did not have any race this year. But we are looking forward to more members joining. I still encourage people to join Fiji Car Club; there is a form to sign, fee of $50 and lot of benefits of becoming a member. This includes entry to any Fiji Car Club events will be free.

Driving responsibility

We would like to also take this opportunity to remind drivers of their responsibility when driving as well as when it comes to owning vehicles.

Your responsibility does not stop at just driving safely on the roads.

It was sad indeed to read in the Fiji Sun this week of a 13-year-old driving a vehicle. Parents should ensure this does not happen.

It is understandable parents want to teach their children as much as possible at an early age – but there are some things better left for when children reach a more mature age.  Please do not take the law into your hands and ensure your vehicles are kept away from children until they reach the legal driving age and get their driver’s license.

It will not be worth if they end up in a serious accident or worse, causing any deaths on the roads or endangering their own lives.

So all parents as well as guardians need to take responsibility and ensure such incidences does not happen again. Until we meet next week, drive safe and stay safe.
