Kelera Alyssa Uruwale Railoa was overjoyed when she was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s award for being the most outstanding graduate of the University of Fiji, Lautoka Campus.

Ms Railoa said she was happy with her achievement and would want to encourage young girls to make a difference in their lives by getting a better education.

“Education is every human’s right and I would like to encourage ladies out there to get an education and make a difference in their lives,” Ms Railoa said.

She added that she was proud to graduate with her other colleagues and was happy more than 50 per cent of the graduates were females.

“51.7 per cent of the graduates today are females and this is very encouraging,” she said.

“Women empowerment in the form of attaining a good education is very vital.

“It is very hard to voice out your issues in our community thesedays, and I believe that women should stand up to their capabilities, take leadership roles and help Fiji move forward.”w
