Navosa Central College have booked their spot in the Vodafone Trophy’s Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Under-19 grand final.

Yesterday, Navosa Central caused the biggest upset when they beat favourites Nasinu Secondary School 16-8 in their semi-final clash.

Nadroga/ Navosa development officer Suliasi Cakautabu said that Nasinu Secondary School’s downfall was their inability to handle pressure.

“Nasinu scored first but it was the continuous pressure from Navosa Central that saw them fell apart,” he said.

“As a champion side Nasinu tried to get back in the last quarter but could not break the opposition’s defence.”

Cakautabu said Navosa Central opted to open up the game and use their big boys to punch through the Nasinu defence to get to the advantage line.

“They kept on mounting the pressure and it paid off in the end,” he added.

In the other U19 semifinal, defending champions Ba Provincial Freebird Institute trounced Ra High School 30-4 to take on Navosa Central in the grand final.

Cakautabu said this is going to be a repeat of the 2014 U19 grand final, which was won by Ba Provincial Freebird Institute.
