The Nasinu Primary School’s netball competition continued at the National Netball Centre yesterday. This was after two weeks of cancellation due to bad weather conditions. Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, netball coordinator Elenoa Basaga said the postponement of games affected the attendance of most teams.

“Most games were won by default today because some schools couldn’t make it,” she said.

“From the committee, we had given clear instructions that the games would continue today but unfortunately teams still didn’t show-up.”

She said the cancellation of games in the last two weeks would now cause a delay in the competition schedule.

“We usually have 12 weeks of competition with term two having six rounds to complete the league but because of the delay, we will now have eight rounds of games,” she said.

Basaga said apart from poor turnout, the development of young netters is their goal and the competitiveness between the teams has been remarkable.

“This year we have 13 schools competing which is a drop from last year’s 15 schools.” The committee looks forward to a better turn-up in the next round of games.
