TOURISM Tropica Island Resort Celebrates Third Anniversary

Tropica Island Resort will celebrate its third year anniversary on April 30.

The boutique resort is located on Malolo Island in the Mamanucas, province of Nadroga. It underscores the growth of Malolo as a destination, with Likuliku Lagoon and Malolo resorts the leaders on the  island.

Tropica Island Sales Manager Kini Saukuru said, “Even though the resort is young, our service have strengthen over the years.”

“The occupancy of the resort sits at about 50 percent. With regards to, Cyclone Winston a lot of bookings were rescheduled.

“The next couple of months look healthy for Tropica especially during the peak travel during June and July.

She said they have a different approach towards sustainability and employment whereby 80 staff works are stationed onsite and in a mainland office.

“We have employed a lot of young people who have not had any prior hospitality experience therefore we invest heavily in training,  Ms Saukuru said.

“We actually have a Training Manager on the payroll which is unprecedented for a small resort in Fiji.”

She added Tropica won the ANZ 2015 Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards for Quality Accommodation and the Travellers’ Choice Award through TripAdvisor for 2015.

“We are truly honoured and delighted to have been recognised within the industry. Shout out to the management and staff for their dedication and hard work,” she said.

“We were ranked fourth in Fiji by our guests on TripAdvisor which is not bad for a young resort as ours.”

Meanwhile, the Resort is created especially for adults with blended Fijian and contemporary architecture with landscaped open spaces and water features.

The  accommodation comprises of 12 Beachfront Bures, four Beachfront Suites and 14 Resort Rooms.
