The deputy headboy and deputy headgirl have set examples for their juniors during the Gospel High School passing-out parade yesterday.

Baton of Honour Award winner and Parade Commander, the deputy headboy, Iliesa Moceituba, said he was more than amazed.

“I felt excited especially when the six days of hard work comes to an end. The cadet passing-out parade this morning felt rather sad, because our enjoyment and fun during rehearsals of six days was over.

“I felt honoured when I was announced to be the Parade Commander as I’m only the deputy headboy and the position was designated for the headboy.”

Iliesa said cadetship was a lesson where discipline was taught to students therefore, if the opportunity arises, his advise to other students is to take the opportunity because discipline and obedience can take a person far in life.

And the Best Female Cadet Award was awarded to third in command and deputy headgirl Divisha Rao, who said she would like her juniors to follow their footsteps and set examples for others.

“I am thankful to God, my parents, teachers and the staff of my school, and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces instructors for giving me an opportunity to become a much better person than I am,” she said.

“I feel really excited because this is my fifth year as a cadet. I had always admired the soldiers since primary school and I always wanted to be one of them and experience their lives.”

“Cadet improves our listening skills. It is not only an extra-curricular activity, but it also helps us with our academic subjects as well, because our listening skills are very important in our studies,” she said.
