Is Beer Cheaper Now Than Kava?
It’s boom time for yaqona farmers on one island.
So much so that they are now getting the best price because of what appears to be a shortage.
A big kava buyer from Viti Levu has set up office on the island in the hope of buying all the yaqona. The farmers normally sell to him but when a ship calls in, they sell directly to people onboard at a better price.
The repercussions are being severely felt in the markets and in the villages on Viti Levu where they have to pay double the price. It prompted one yaqona drinker to say: “It’s cheaper now to drink beer.”
Silent Times
For the record: Still no reply to questions we sent to The Fiji Times news bosses seeking their response. This was over Government statements and complaints about a recent headlined story about civil service jobs.
A time for serious
There is a fine line between wackiness and seriousness in our professional lives.
A renowned trainer said in Suva yesterday that there are certain things that cannot be compromised because there is a time for being wacky and and a time for being serious.
So if you want to get wacky with your boss during working hours be careful. You might just be compromising your time and job.
