Fiji Performing Rights Association chairman Eremasi Tamanisau Junior on Saturday  paid tribute to the natural attributes local musicians were endowed with at the FPRA Music Awards.

Mr Tamanisau said musical talent and creativity was something that the people of Fiji were blessed and endowed with.

“FPRA has been working consistently to foster the development of music, protect the interest of composers, and open up economic benefits and returns in the fields of education, creative industries, communications, media, tourism, trade and commerce, and intellectual property rights,” Mr Tamanisau Jnr said.

He said it was also vital to recognise that FPRA valued and respected the work of the pioneer composers in the music industry.

The pinnacle of musical achievements and recognition for the works of composers and musicians for the year of 2015 were recognised at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

Most popular Fijian band Voqa Ni Delai Dokidoki walked away with the Artist of the Year award.

The band’s lead singer, Etonia Lote Snr, also received the Outstanding Service award.

The best iTaukei song award was scooped by newcomer Nasio Domoni, whose hit, Na Veikilai Lekaleka was composed by Jofiliti Sucuvou.
