Avoid Unnecessary Home Fires
The National Fire Authority (NFA) advises home owners to be mindful of fire safety at home when using mosquito coils, candles, prayer diyas and other fire ignition sources.
NFA chief fire officer Qionilau Moceitai urged home owners to take extra care and avoid unnecessary home fires.
“Home owners must ensure that candles, prayer diyas, mosquito coils and other fire ignition sources are placed away from the fabric materials like curtains, underneath the bed or sofa,” Mr Moceitai said.
“Candles and mosquito coils have caused home fires and we don’t want any family to lose their homes.”

Blow out candles when you leave the room or go to sleep.
Place mosquito coil on a metal surface.
Never place a mosquito coil on newspapers
