Chute: I Know What We Need At Home
Mary Chute, 39, a housewife does her shopping on a fortnight basis.
Mrs Chute as she is fondly known to many lives at Naodamu Housing outside Labasa along with her husband Alick and their three children. For her she does not really need a shopping list as she knows what is really needed at her home.
“I don’t buy a lot of groceries,” she said.
“But my priorities are toiletries, onions, oil, garlic, butter, sugar, flour, rice and diapers for my two children. I prefer shopping at Shop N Save supermarket as their prices are affordable and a lot closer to the bus stand”
When out shopping, Mrs Chute says, it’s always important to buy what they need and not want.
“We should not spend excessively when shopping. For me breakfast is always important especially for my husband before he goes out fishing. Since it’s the first meal of the day its important because the next meal is lunch which is a huge gap compared to dinner.”
