Fijian U20 In Tough OFC Pool
The Vodafone Fijians Under-20 men’s football team will face Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia in the OFC U20 Men’s Championship at Port Villa Stadium in Vanuatu in September this year.
Fiji will start its campaign against Vanuatu on September 3, play New Caledonia on Tuesday September 6 and final pool match will be on Saturday, September 10, against Papua New Guinea.
Fiji Football Association chief executive Bob Kumar says Fiji are in a tough pool.
“We face Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea,” said Kumar.
“Vanuatu is host and will have the home advantage while PNG and New Caledonia will give us a tough competition.”
Kumar believes Fiji should give their best in the competition.
“We are preparing well for this competition as we know our Regional Academy team are in camp from January and the team will be selected for the tournament. It is good that two teams from Oceania will qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup and we have great chance to make our second appearance in the world arena,” he added.
