The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) wishes the Team Fiji contingent well as they prepare to participate at next month’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In a statement yesterday, the BCF stated the participation of welterweight amateur boxer Winston Hill in the Olympics after a lapse of 28 years, is going to augur well for the sport.

“We urge all athletes and officials to work together and do the nation proud as we are now closer to winning our first Olympic medal, which we all hope that it’s going to be gold,” stated the Commission.

Echoing similar sentiments, is the Jittu Boxing Stable in Raiwaqa as they wished Hill well in the Olympics.

“We know it’s going to be hard but the fact that Winston has made it to Rio has made us all proud and we are going to pray for him and Team Fiji as a whole,” said trainer Marika Yalimaiwai.
