University, Asian Development Bank Vow Closer Co-operation

The University of the South Pacific (USP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have vowed to deepen the relationship between the two agencies on knowledge sharing and human resources capacity

The University of the South Pacific (USP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have vowed to deepen the relationship between the two agencies on knowledge sharing and human resources capacity building.

This follows a meeting on the margins of the 2016 Pacific Update Conference between Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and the president of USP and Bambang Susantono, vice president for Knowledge Management at ADB where areas of mutual interest and collaboration between the two agencies was discussed.

The discussions focussed on how best to leverage  USP and ADB’s respective capabilities to  improve the quality of life of Pacific Island peoples using modern means of delivering inclusive and affordable education, and through innovation using results of each other’s research and data.

Professor Chandra acknowledged the existing and growing partnership between USP and ADB, particularly in improving University facilities in various member countries to improve the quality and access of higher education in the region.

He said that enhanced partnership with ADB which has culminated in the successful hosting of the 2016 Pacific Update Conference has opened up further opportunities for collaboration on knowledge sharing.
