Two girls say they dreamed that Fiji would win gold in the Rio Olympics.

Adi Letila, 16, of Komave, Nadroga and Ana Elizabeth Cassedy, 16, of Savusavu, thanked Ben Ryan and his team for making their dream come true.

They were among thousands who celebrated our first Olympic gold medal at the ANZ National Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Ana said it was her first time to witness something huge in Fiji and it was all because of the hard work of the Rugby 7s team.

“I am so happy today that I could be a part of the big celebrations and witness the historic moment,” Ana said.

“It means a lot to us as Fijians and it is all because of the boys who have played the biggest part in making this day come true.”

Meanwhile Adi Leetila said the 7s boys deserved the celebrations.

“They worked to make us Fijians proud and make Fiji known in the world. They deserve the special treatment and this celebration to mark the Rio Olympic Gold medal,” Adi Letila said.

“Today would not be possible without our 7s boys and I would like to say ‘thank you to Ben Ryan and the team’ for making all of our dreams come true.”
