Stallions Win 6th Challenge
BLK Nadroga beat Jack’s Nadi 32-13 in the sixth HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge at Lawaqa Park yesterday
What Happened: Jack’s Nadi came out firing in the 2nd minute with Meli Rokoua scoring the first try to lead 5-0.
Both teams stood hard and tall in defence and the champion made their mark in the 9th minute after winger Joeli Lutumailagi scored the Stallions first try which was converted by Apisalome Waqatabu, 7-5.
In the 16th minute Nadi’s Aseri Vatuinaruku kicked a penalty to re-take the lead, 8-7.
The Nakuruvarua boys made a statement they were the defending champion and struck again in the 26th minute with Sakiusa Nadruku scoring a sensational try which was converted by Waqatabu, 14-8.
In the 34th minute Waqatabu kicked another penalty to increase their lead, 17-8.
Halftime: Nadroga 17-8 Nadi
Nadroga upped the momentum in the 46th minute with a penalty to Waqatabu, 20-8.
The Stallions continued to break the defensive wall in the 47th minute with a try to Ifereimi Tovilevu, 27-8.
In the 70th minute Iliesa Leqa stretched the lead with another try, 32-8.
Nadi made a comeback in the 76th minute with a try to Jolame Luvevou.
Big Play: Joeli Lutumailagi scoring a beautiful try and organised the backline well.
Star Turn: Jonetani Ralulu’s kicking game helped the Stallions.
Nadroga captain Rupeni Nasiga;
“We finished the game on a high note and improved a lot from our last game against Northland. Our focus now is the next challenge.”
