Interformation Boxing Competition Officially Opened
The Fiji Police’s Interformation Boxing Competition was officially opened by the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu this afternoon at the Special Response Unit in 8 miles Nasinu.
The grueling two day competition will be the buildup for the institution’s campaign to take the Ratu Sukuna Bowl Boxing title away from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
In opening the two day competition, the Acting Commissioner of Police reiterated the Commissioner’s intent on dominating all sports in this year’s Ratu Sukuna tournament.
“Last year we were outclassed by our comrades from the RFMF and this year they will surely put up a good fight and won’t be making it easy for us”.
“When you wear the blue jersey and trunks remember the Commissioner’s intent for us to dominate in all sports and let’s show our brothers that we have quality boxers”.
He also called on the coordinators and selectors to ensure the sport of boxing has longevity within the institution for the sake of nurturing the officers who have the desire to nurture the potential they have.
“A number of officers who are still boxing today have used the Ratu Sukuna Bowl platform to go further and represent the nation so I want you to set your goals beyond just the tournament and know that you could be the next person to represent Fiji”.
Also present were the Fiji Amateur Boxing Coach to the 2016 Rio Olympics Napoleon Taumoepeau and Middle weight champion Joseph Kwadjo.
The competition ends tomorrow.
