BAF Staff Members To Attain International Accreditation On Cyber Security
Two IT officials from the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF) are working towards attaining international accreditation on Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
This is the most essential certification in the cyber security world.
BAF Team Leader GIS/IS, Timoci Bukasoqo and IT Support Officer/Website Administrator, Kritesh Sharma recently attended the training on Master Class on Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
This was at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
The four day training was conducted by Dominic Nessi on behalf of Fleming, an international company involved in facilitating business and corporate is training.
The overall objective of the training was to train the participants on all the necessary domains to become an expert in cyber security and help them prepare to achieve globally recognised CISSP certification.
BAF executive chairman, Xavier Khan, said it is imperative for BAF to secure its official and personal data, financial data and intellectual property.
Hence, he said the Authority is training staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in securing the data.
“Cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges for most countries including Fiji,” Mr Khan said.
“Hackers are now using sophisticated techniques to breach the network and server to steal confidential information. Security training is useful to combat cyber threats.”
Mr Khan said achieving the CISSP proves high proficiency in foundation security disciplines for BAF as BAF is upgrading its IT infrastructure.
He said this upgrade is very essential to improve service delivery in the modern technological era.
