Labasa Appoints Lal
The Labasa Football Association (LFA) has appointed Ronil Lal to prepare the team for the Courts Inter-District Championship (IDC) in Suva next month.
Lal, the assistant coach of the Fijian Under-20 and former assistant coach of Labasa for two years, started training the players yesterday.
The Kamil Muslim College in Ba teacher was approached by LFA vice-president Varun Anand and president Rayaz Khan.
Lal was the Northern U16 coach in 2014, U18 coach in 2015 and Labasa Youth coach in 2015.
The 38-year-old originally from Naodamu, Labasa was the Fiji Football Association development centre coach in 2014.
Equipped with wide knowledge and experience in football, Lal accepted the offer because he has pride in his district and have faith in the players.
“Labasa has always produced talented players,” Lal said.
“I worked as assistant coach for Labasa when Bal Sanju Reddy was coach in 2014-2015.
“I know the team hadn’t done well during the Vodafone Premier League and have been without coach for some time.
“All I would like to request the fans of the Babasiga Lions is to be patient with us.
Lal will be leaving for New Zealand to attend Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) B licensing coaching course.
Anand commended Lal’s dedication.
“We’re happy to have a talented, experienced and dedicated man who is willing to support his district,” Anand said.
“While Lal will be away in New Zealand for few days, the team will continue to train under my guidance and team manager Ravinesh Chand.”
