Police won the Fiji International Airport Volleyball Festival 2016.

The lawmen edged defending champion Army, 34-32 in the final at Ratu Navula College after dethroning Port Denarau in the semifinal.

Coach Timoci Senibica said the win was just the ideal preparation for the upcoming Sukuna Bowl

“We proved that Police will be the team to beat in the Sukuna Bowl,” he said.

“This is a first time we participated in the tournament. Army came last year and won, we came in this year and we won.”

Meanwhile in the women’s division, Water Authority of Fiji took down Army 35-31 in the final.

The Fiji International Airport Volleyball Festival, media liaison officer, Patricia Mallam said: “The volleyball festival is a proof that of the evolution of work culture. This year we have seen many changes-teams who have broken barriers to participate and we have noticed a stronger dedication from the teams in how they have trained and prepared for the tournament.”

Newcomers to the event also include Fiji Sports Council.

“Exceptionally well organized for us and this is a real treat for our staffs,”Council chief executive officer Litiana Loabuka said.
