Firms Donate $35K For Society

Fiji Dairy Limited and Janty Kanvan Limited yesterday handed over a cheque of $35,000 as their contribution to the Fiji Cancer Society’s Pinktober initiative.

The proceeds are from the purchase of the two companies’ products which were recently coloured in pink in line with the Pinktober awareness programme.

Fiji Dairy Limited had contributed five cents from the purchase of each Rewa Powder Milk 450 gramme packet while Janty Kanvan had donated 10 cents from the purchase of each ream of Xpress A4 paper.

The handover was made during a Pinktober morning tea organised by the two companies with the Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar as the chief guest.

Fiji Dairy general manager Sundeep Kumar Balia said they were privileged to be a part of a worthwhile venture with their parent body CJ Patel Group of Companies; and Janty Kanvan Limited.

“Our products have always been a part of the daily lives of our people and this initiative has given us the opportunity to give back to the community,” he said.

“CJ Group has always been a strong believer of community betterment and  has always stepped forward to assist the community in every way possible.”

Mr Balia said this was evident in their second year partnership with Government in the free milk and Weetbix initiative for Year One students.

“This initiative sees that the future of Fiji starts their day with healthy and nutritious breakfast,” he said.

Janty Kanvan Limited operations manager Jigar Khatri said: “After being a fraction of this campaign for two years now, we have grown to be very fond of it and would be pleased to provide any future assistance to the Fiji Cancer Society.”

Fiji Cancer Society acting president Philip Low, after receiving the cheque, thanked the two companies for their generous donation.

Mr Low said the funds would go towards the society’s education and awareness programmes.
