Miss Suva Up For The Challenge
Miss Suva, Anne Dunn is looking forward to the diversity that will be showcased on stage at this week’s Telecom Miss Fiji Pageant.
The 24-year-old law graduate said she was ready to take on the challenge against her 10 opponents who are representing their various municipalities.
As the reigning Miss Vodafone Hibiscus Miss Dunn credits the support of her family and friends as her strength.
“I have such a good support system, my parents, family friends even from my sponsors, Home and Living, during the Vodafone Hibiscus,” she said.
“It will be exciting because I grew really close with my roommate and the girls that I got to have the Hibiscus adventure with in Suva, so I was really excited coming here to Sigatoka and meet a brand new set of sisters and advocate on public issues. It’s been really cool.
If she is given the opportunity to represent Fiji to the Pacific this is what she has to do: “I think the Pacific stage is more of the cultural nation so it’s more of a incorporating the different municipalities the different region of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu but it is more about representing all well and representing culturally dynamically and diversely because I do believe we are the most diverse in the South Pacific country so it would be a good chance to showcase that.”
There are 11 contestants representing the different areas vying for the crown this year.
Zaira Begg is the reigning Telecom Miss Fiji.
The week-long competition, launched yesterday at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, will determine who will represent Fiji at the Pacific Islands Pageant.
The Telecom Miss Fiji 2016 will be crowned this Saturday. This year’s theme is ‘Promoting Clean and Green Town and Cities’.
The launch started with a march through Sigatoka Town to Lawaqa Park.
At Lawaqa Park the contestants were introduced on stage by Business consultant for Limited Edition (LE) Sports Wear in Fiji and the Pacific, Liga Gukisuva. Miss Begg was also present.
Miss Fiji co-ordinator Jane Kanas commended the girls for their participation.
“All girls are different and they have a different set of aspirations, these are very intelligent set of girls that are here so each year we have different set of girls although there will be similarities in the way that we deal with them but there will be issues that will be unique for each of the girls,” she said.
