Gospel Dux Misses Dad, But Has Supportive Mum
Hailing from Rotuma, Vakaoca Finau, graced the stage as she scooped the Dux award during the Gospel Primary School’s prizegiving ceremony on Wednesday.
“My father is in the military and so he is mostly away,” she said.
“Most of the time I do not really have my father there with me and he hardly came to any of my prizegiving event, but I am very thankful my mum would always come.”
She misses her father dearly as she would see him only a few times in a year.
“I usually read until I have everything that I need to know. I usually study before going to sleep and after waking up,” she said.
Her biggest challenge was combating peer pressure and controlling the time spent on Facebook.
“I really do not have any problems at home because my family and relatives are always there to support me and that is what I am really thankful for,” she said.
She aspires to become a doctor, and dedicates her achievements to her mother because she has always been supportive.
