Mum Means The World To Dux Awardee
My mother means the world to me and this Dux award is for her, said Zoreen Khan of Bocalevu Muslim Primary School in Labasa on Thursday.
The 14-year-old lost her father to Cyclone Ami(2003) when he went fishing and failed to return.
Zoreen, a Year 8 student, scooped the: Senior Dux award, Best Attendance award, Year 8 first prize and best subject prizes in English, Basic Science, Health Science, Hindi, Social Science and Mathematics.
“My mother, Chintanani Khan has worked really hard to support me in the absence of my father,” Zoreen said.
“I learnt the meaning of hardwork and sacrifice from her.”
Her mother, 50, she said never shows she is tired.
“She never gives up no matter the ups and downs we face.”
The aspiring architect scored 539 out of 600.
The Junior Dux award went to Sana Shakeel a Year Six student from Wailevu in Labasa.
“I want to become a doctor to help people get better,” the 11-year-old said.
“I am thankful to my parents for being so supportive.”
