New Constables Deployed To West
Fifty-five new constable from the Fiji Police Force have been deployed to the Western Division ahead of the festive season.
This is part of the Police Western Division’s strategy to beef up manpower as it enters the festive season.
The new recruits were deployed to the Western Division last Monday where the next two days were spent on familiarisation tour around the area on operation in the Division.
Forty of the new recruits were deployed around the Lautoka area to create visibility and assist in operation around the sugar city area while 15 have been deployed in Nadi.
Western Deputy Divisional Police Commander (D/DPC/W) Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdul Khan said the new recruits deployed would not only be there to provide safety and security, but to conduct safety awareness on certain issues.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the 55 new recruits deployed to the division were well used in all aspects of operations, a move welcomed by market vendors and shop owners.
“The new recruits were introduced to the Policing work where they met up with members of the communities in town and respective settlements and villages,” SP Khan said.
On Thursday the recruits had their first opportunity to familiarise themselves with members of the public before they met up with the Divisional Police Commander West (DPC/W) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Marika Kotoisuva.
Soon after the meeting SSP Kotoisuva deployed them to various stations around the Western Division.
