Vaulino Qaqanisereki thanked his parents for their hard work and sacrifices to give him and his siblings a good education in order to better themselves.
The 21-year-old is an attaché accountant at N Mudaliar and Company in Suva.
It was a proud moment for him seeing his brother, Iowane Masibalavu, received the Dux award during the Naboro Sawanikula Primary School prizegiving ceremony last Thursday.
The school is located in Sawanikula Village in the Naitasiri province
“I am so happy with my brother’s achievements. He worked hard so hard to receive this Dux Award,” he said.
Thirteen-year-old Iowane, a Year Eight student, also scooped the Best Sportsmen Award, progressive prize, a 100 per cent attendance prize, and prizes for scoring highest in English, Basic Science, Fijian and Social Science.
Mr Qaqanisereki said his two other siblings received first prizes during the prizegiving as well.
His sisters Sereima Sabeta and Usenia Lewalau also go to the same school.
“My parents cried when the three received the first prize and they were really happy,” he said.
“My parents have always provided us with our needs and when it comes to education, they always ensure we have all our education material.
“Our parents have work hard to support us, it’s now our turn to support our parents,” he said.
